Enchanting Features: Hyundai Limited Edition Disney Ioniq 5 EV Showcases Hidden Mickeys with Minimal Markup”

Viewers of the 95th Academy Awards were treated to a sneak peek of this collaboration through a 60-second commercial featuring Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 EV and Tucson SUV, set against the backdrop of the iconic tune “When You Wish Upon A Star.” At the New York International Auto Show, Hyundai unveiled the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Disney100 Platinum Edition, slated for a limited run in 2024.

As of January 2024, Disney and Hyundai have jointly announced the release of the Disney100 Platinum Edition Ioniq 5 EV, with a production run limited to 1,000 units. Priced at $59,400 (excluding additional delivery or destination charges, bringing it to $60,775 with delivery), this special edition model boasts 320 horsepower and all-wheel drive. To celebrate the limited production run, a series of YouTube episodes follows a road trip to The Walt Disney Company Studio Lot, Tam O’Shanter restaurant, Griffith Park, and the Palm Springs Air Museum, featuring Disney actors Josh Peck and John Stamos.

The limited-edition models are expected to feature Gravity Gold Matte paint and Mickey ear wheel designs inspired by the concept. The distinctive Disney100 fender badges will undoubtedly adorn these vehicles. Inside, features include a moonroof with a Tinkerbell-inspired design, ambient edge-lighting offering a synchronized light show, and a central infotainment screen with a unique welcome animation featuring Disney music and the Disney100 logo.

Additional enchantment awaits with Disney 100 logos embossed on headrests and the center console, along with embroidered floor mats displaying the iconic branding. The door trim is adorned with an alternating pattern of Disney mouse logos. Notably, this collaboration marks a creative alliance between Hyundai vehicle designers and Walt Disney Imagineering, representing a pioneering effort in combining automotive design with the creative input of Disney’s renowned imagineers.

While the production models may not replicate all the whimsical details of the concept, the Disney100 Platinum Edition Ioniq 5 promises a magical driving experience. This collaboration builds on Hyundai’s previous engagement with Disney, where they collaborated on a campaign featuring characters from ABC, ESPN, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of the 2022 Tucson “Question Everything” creative platform.
