Details about the identities of the deceased were yet to be disclosed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. The lone survivor, hospitalized since the explosion, was reported to be in stable condition as of Wednesday.

The ensuing fire, a raging inferno fueled by the explosion, endured for several hours before firefighters managed to bring it under control around midnight. Complicating their efforts were freezing temperatures, forcing firefighters to confront frigid conditions while battling the blaze. Hillsboro city workers were quick to respond, applying salt to nearby roads drenched by water from firefighting efforts to prevent them from freezing over. Some roads in the vicinity were temporarily closed during the intense emergency response.

The investigation into the explosion’s cause continued on Wednesday, with the State Fire Marshal’s Office leading the probe. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced its involvement in the investigation, highlighting the gravity of the incident and the need to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragic explosion at the auto repair shop.
