At PAX 24, Yoshida took the stage to unveil an upcoming crossover questline between Final Fantasy 14 and 16, set to debut in early April. However, he kept the details sparse, leaving fans curious. The reason? Well, according to Yoshida himself, he didn’t want to upset… himself. It’s a humorous nod that left many scratching their heads.
“I can’t talk about the FFXVI x FFXIV crossover release date because there’s a panel tomorrow for FFXIV that Producer and Director Yoshi-P will be doing, and I probably should let him talk more about it otherwise he might get mad at me,” he quipped (translation via @aitaikimochi).
So, in essence, Yoshi-P has teased a Final Fantasy 16-themed questline for Final Fantasy 14, but he’s keeping mum until his scheduled appearance tomorrow. Yet, instead of simply stating this, he opted for the amusing approach of portraying himself as two separate individuals, adding to the whimsy.

As someone who’s dabbled in Final Fantasy 14 over the years without fully committing, and having thoroughly enjoyed Final Fantasy 16, I can’t help but wonder if this crossover will finally draw me into a deeper engagement with the MMO.
