Despite league rules prohibiting his presence at the arena on game days, Draymond Green has found ways to contribute on non-game days, offering guidance to the younger players and sharing insights about the team’s defensive challenges in his absence.

Even though he can’t physically contribute on the court, Green’s vocal presence has been invaluable to the team, according to rookie Brandin Podziemski. In particular, Green addressed defensive lapses, emphasizing the need for increased physicality, especially in defending against players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, whose mid-range game contributed to the Warriors’ recent losses.

The Warriors faced defensive struggles in their encounters with Oklahoma City’s five-out offense, prompting Chris Paul to organize an impromptu mini-practice after a loss. Recognizing the issues in guarding guards slipping out of the pick-and-roll, Paul gathered teammates for a session on the practice court, with more players joining in, turning it into a quasi-practice to address their defensive shortcomings.
