A class action lawsuit filed in Florida alleges that Walmart engages in unfair and deceptive business practices by falsely inflating the weight of products and overcharging customers for certain items like meat, poultry, pork, seafood, and bagged citrus fruits. Walmart denies these allegations but has agreed to a $45 million settlement.

Here’s what you need to know to determine if you’re eligible for compensation and how to file a claim:

Eligibility for a cash payment:

If you bought weighted goods or bagged citrus at a Walmart store in the U.S. or Puerto Rico between Oct. 19, 2018, and Jan. 19, 2024, you may be eligible.

Potential payouts:

$10: for purchasing up to 50 weighted goods or bagged citrus without receipts
$15: for purchasing 51 to 75 items without receipts
$20: for purchasing 76 to 100 items without receipts
$25: for purchasing 101 or more items without receipts
Up to $500: for providing receipts or other documentation, entitling you to 2% of the total cost of your purchases, capped at $500.
The deadline to submit a claim online or by mail is June 5, 2024. You’ll need to provide your name, address, contact information, and details about your purchases.

If your claim is approved, you’ll receive payment via prepaid Mastercard, direct deposit, Zelle transfer, or Venmo transfer.

Don’t miss out on your chance to claim what you’re owed from Walmart’s settlement. Act before the deadline to ensure you receive your compensation.
