The couple acknowledged that the experience helped them identify true friends, and Holmes playfully urged Amy Robach to reveal the individuals who stood by her. Amy Robach then praised Sara Haines, co-host of The View, for her unwavering support, saying, “One of the people who wouldn’t stop texting me, even when I didn’t respond, was Sara Haines. She was an absolute pleasure. She said, ‘I’m going to keep texting you, I’m going to keep checking in on you.'”
Holmes humorously speculated, “They’re probably going to fire her after this airs.”
Robach, acknowledging the potential repercussions for Haines, shared her concerns, saying, “I think it’s positive, but maybe it won’t be positive for her.” Despite the potential fallout, Robach emphasized Haines’ incredible support, highlighting their 15-year friendship that extends back to their time at NBC.
Robach applauded Haines for making a bold statement of support by continuing to check in on her and being seen with them in public. She acknowledged the potential risks, noting, “You also worried about being connected to us may somehow bring you down. So I don’t want to necessarily do that, but she was incredible.”
Before returning to The View in 2020, Haines had hosted the third hour of Good Morning America, and ABC later transformed GMA3 into a news show with Robach and Holmes as the lead anchors.
