FRANKFURT — Volkswagen expects sales of its ID electric-car family to pick up significantly in China in the second half of the year, CEO Herbert Diess said.
By the end of the year, VW wants to sell between 80,000 and 100,000 ID cars in China, Diess said, adding sales were expected to double to 6,000 in July from 3,000 in June.
The brand currently sells two variants of the ID4 SUV in China. It is also planning to add a larger ID6 crossover to its lineup this year.
In the first half, sales of VW’s ID4 in China rose 110 percent to 18,285, but accounted for just 11 percent of the brand’s global EV deliveries.
